According to Cub Swanson, he will be the next fighter to challenge Jose Aldo for the UFC featherweight title – not Conor McGregor.

That’s what Swanson posted on Twitter over the weekend after talks of an Aldo-McGregor contest heated up following the champions victory over Chad Mendes.

Of course, Swanson’s path to a title shot rests on a victory later this year over Frankie Edgar, while McGregor also has a fight booked. “Notorious” meets Dennis Siver in January.

Swanson (21-5) has won six of his seven UFC bouts, including six straight. He will meet Edgar at UFC Fight Night 57 this November.

Since his arrival in the UFC, McGregor (16-2) has been on a tear, winning four in a row, three of which have been finishes. He was in Brazil recently to watch Aldo defeat Mendes for a second time, and will face Siver at UFC Fight Night 59.
