You would think “The Count” had a belt with the attention he draws. One of the most sought out opponents in the middleweight division is British slugger, Michael Bisping. All-American, Brian Stann has once again taken to the press to let it be known that he still wants to fight the top five contender.
Stann does not say, but the call out may be due in part to the fact that Bisping had said in the past that Stann was an ‘exposed whitebelt,’ after being caught by Chael Sonnen in a head and arm choke at UFC 136. Since then the campaign has been on, despite the fact that both men currently sit out with injuries.

“I think that’s a fight that I need to jump at because he’s obviously ranked higher than I am. He’s a guy that’s right up there in the mix for a title shot, which is what we all want. Of course I want to fight Michael Bisping. He’s a star in the UFC, he makes big time money, he’s got everything that everybody else wants, and he’s earned it so I want to take that. I saw the interview and I know my shoulder will be ready for Sept 22 in Toronto and that would be a great honor to put that fight on for the fans. He’s the biggest star in England and with my background here in America, it’s just a fitting storyline going into a fight. Alan Belcher’s a fantastic fighter, he’s a great guy, but I just personally think the fight between me and Bisping would attract more attention.”
Bisping is currently rehabbing a torn meniscus which took him out of his bout with Tim Boetsch, while Stann is working on a grade two separation of his right AC joint which forced the withdraw from his bout against Hector Lombard. No word on Bisping’s targeted return, but Stann is targeting Sept. 22’s UFC 152. Interestingly on Sept. 29 the UFC will be in Nottingham, England – why not take on Bisping in front of his home country?
