The bantamweights are coming to Sweden. Brad Pickett and Mike Easton look to get back into the title picture with a win after both lost in their last bouts. This fight takes place at UFC on Fuel TV 9, which is going to be held in Stockholm on April 6. This is the second event to be held in the country, and the second event to be headlined by Alexander Gustafsson as he faces off with Gegard Mousasi in a title-eliminator bout.
Pickett has gone 2-2 since entering into the UFC. His wins have come in the form of a knockout over Yves Jabouin and a rear naked choke submission over Damacio Page at the UFC’s first Swedish card. His losses have come to current interim bantamweight champion Renan Barao by submission, and the re-surging Eddie Wineland by split decision. Pickett is also one of only two men to have a win over current flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson, but now he faces off with Washington, D.C. native Easton.
Easton was on the fast track toward the title until his opponent was switched at December’s Fox event; he lost an unanimous decision to Raphael Assuncao. Before that bout Easton had won three straight fights, which included a TKO over Byron Bloodworth and a big win over Ivan Menjivar. Now he looks to continue his climb toward the top with a win over Pickett
Also set for the card is a pivital featherweight matchup between Marcus Brimage and Conor McGregor. Brimage has been flawless in his UFC career so far, earning upset victories over Maximo Blanco and Jimy Hettes. Now, he takes on Octagon newcomer McGregor, who is a finisher who has never seen the judge’s scorecard in all 14 of his MMA bouts. In his wins, he has finished 11 opponents by TKO/KO and one by submission. The ground game may be his weakness though, as both of his losses have come by submission. Stay tuned as more bouts are announced.
