Antonio Carvalho is reportedly the latest name to join the UFC cut list, as the 33 year-old-fighter has announced via Twitter that he’s been let go by the promotion, following his stoppage loss to Darren Elkins at UFC 158 in March.

Although the Canadian was stopped in the first round, and thus the UFC can terminate his contract, Carvalho had scored back-to-back wins over Rodrigo Damn and Daniel Pineda heading into the bout. The Shooto vet’s win over Pineda was a first round KO that he recorded at UFC 149 last July.

Carvalho revealed the news today via Twitter by stating:

“I have been cut by the UFC. Too many FW’s on roster & need to cut back. Business is that way. Only love for the UFC. Hopefully be back. Thx!”

The featherweight made his UFC debut last January and dropped a unanimous decision to Felipe Arantes at UFC 142, so, ¬†Carvalho concludes his current run with the promotion having gone 2-2. If not for the ridiculous amount of talented featherweights out there, one would think the 15-6 fighter wouldn’t have been handed his pink slip just yet.

Look for the BJJ black belt and powerful striker to land with another promotion soon.
