Plenty of people were impressed, or should have been, with the Octagon debut of Conor McGregor, but that doesn’t mean certain fighters aren’t interested in throwing down with the Irish prospect. Case in point, featherweight Akira Corassani, who has respectfully called out McGregor and is hoping to fight “Notorious” on August 17th.
Speaking vis his official Youtube page, Corassani invited McGregor to meet him at the upcoming UFC on FOX Sports 1 event.
“I respect you. I respect your team and I respect the Republic of Ireland, but, it’s time to do this.”
While it remains to be seen if McGregor jumps on the offer, the timing of Corassani’s call out is spot on, since UFC President Dana White relayed recently that he’s hoping to add McGregor to the Boston card.
McGregor (13-2) is coming off a first round, stoppage win over Marcus Brimmage at UFC on FUEL TV 9 in April to extend his winning streak to nine.
Corassani, on the other hand, worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Robbie Peralta that same night. The Swedish fighter has also scored a split decision win over Andy Ogle in the Octagon, since competing in the 14th season of TUF.
No bouts have been confirmed yet for the UFC on FOX Sports 1 card.
