Strikeforce has recently announced details about their upcoming “Challengers” card set to take place on July 23rd at Comcast Arena in Everett, Washington. The card is headlined by a heavyweight clash between undefeated prospect Shane Del Rosario and Hawaiian-born Lolohea Mahe.

Del Rosario, a Muay Thai specialist, is currently undefeated and comes into the fight with nine victories, eight of them coming in the first round. Del Rosario has never been to a decision and possesses devastating knock-out power with seven of his career victories coming via referee stoppage. Del Rosario’s last fight took place at “ShoMMA: Strikeforce Challengers 4” with him defeating Brandon Cash via the oft-used omoplata submission.

Considered one of the top prospects in MMA, this fight marks Del Rosario’s fifth appearance on Showtime and first time headlining a card.

Despite the highly touted accolades of Del Rosario, Lolohea Mahe is also very capable of ending the bout with one punch. Mahe has six fights under his belt, with only one career loss to go along with four wins. Much like Del Rosario, all of Mahe’s wins have come by  TKO. Mahe’s lone loss came to MMA veteran Lavar Johnson, who defeated the Hawaiian in the second round via TKO at “ShoMMA: Strikeforce Challengers 7.”

Also announced for the “Challengers” card is a Women’s world welterweight bout between undefeated Sarah Kaufman and rising star Roxanne Modaferri.

Kaufman is a former ballet dancer who captured the title with a victory over Takayo Hashi last Feburary.  Kaufman is considered one of the most technical and proficient strikers in women’s MMA and has eight career knockouts.

Roxanne Modaferri recently defeated highly touted Tara LaRosa last May. Modaferri has won eight of her last nine bouts, with the lone loss coming to Marloes Coenen in November of 2009. Modaferri is quite the opposite from Kaufman from a technique standpoint, as she prefers to grapple in lieu of engaging in stand-up battles.

“ShoMMA 9: Del Rosario vs Mahe” is scheduled to take place on July 23rd at Comcast Arena in Everett, Washington. Tickets for the event are expected to go on sale Monday, June 14th.
