The Strikeforce & M-1 Global: Fedor vs. Werdum card in June continues to grow as Sources close to the event have reported to that Scott Smith (17-6 MMA, 3-1 SF) and  Cung Le (6-1 MMA, 6-1 SF) have both agreed to fight on the card.It is believed by sources that the contract will be inked out very soon.

This would be the second time the two battled as their first bout took place back in December at Strikeforce: Evolution.  Though Le  was the aggressor in the match, landing impressive spinning back-kicks to the abdomen of Smith, Smith came back with a shocking TKO from a big left hand in the 3rd round.

Since the loss, Le has been adamantly requesting a rematch against Smith. Smith had this to say to on the rematch:

“At first, I was a little upset because I figured he had to earn his stripes,” Smith said. “He shouldn’t just get a rematch. But after thinking about it, I took that (December) fight on 15 days’ notice. I was banged up two weeks out (and) almost pulled out of the fight. The only reason I stayed in is because the card was already falling apart … and it was the main event. So I just said I’m going to go there and give it my all.”

“For me, as a fighter, I want to go out there and prove that I didn’t just get lucky and knock him out in the third,” Smith said. “I want to go out there and maul him in the first round like I wanted to do.”

“He’ll just come in better shape,” Smith said. “To beat Cung Le, you’ve got to attack him. You can’t let him keep the distance; that’s where he kicks. That’s what I didn’t do in the first fight, so I’m working on a lot of new things on angles and just attacking and overwhelming him.”
