Strikeforce’s negotiations with M-1 regarding heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko is still yet to come to agreement, meaning Emelianenko will not be participating in the upcoming January 29 event.

Emelianenko was looking to be matched against Antonio ‘Big Foot’ Silva but now is once again scrapped, marking Emelianenko as only fighting a total of 69 seconds in all of 2010. A fight in which Emelianenko loss via triangle/armbar to Fabricio Werdum in the first.

Though no level ground has been found between the two organizations, both  sides are hopeful that the contract agreements will be signed soon with Emelianenko renewing his current contract with Strikeforce that is currently down to only one fight left.

With Emelianenko out of Strikeforce in their hometown of San Jose, it is likely the main events will be Souza vs. Lawler, and Nick Diaz vs. an unknown challenger at this time.
