The third time is the charm for this bout as Strikeforce sets what could be a light-heavyweight title bout for them if the promotion was not folding after their final on January 12th of next year. Mike Kyle will be taking on Gegard Mousasi at the final Strikeforce card, and it may have a lot of bearing where they fall into the UFC fold if they are picked up at all. The card was supposed to be headlined by three title bout, but now they are down to three with Gilbert Melendez’s injury still keeping him out of competition.

The two remaining title bouts are Nate Marquardt defending his title against against Tarec Saffiedine, Luke Rockhold putting his middleweight title against Lorenz Larkin. Supposedly Daniel Cormier’s fight with Dion Staring is set to be five rounds as well. The only other announced bout is Randy Couture’s son Ryan taking on former title challenger KJ Noons. This card will take place in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

For the Mousasi and Kyle bout, it will be intriguing to see the outcome. Neither have lost much in the last few years with Mousasi’s only loss coming to the hands of recently caught PED user Muhammed Lawal, and Kyle losing only at heavyweight since his loss to Rafael Cavalcante being overturned due to steroid use. As Strikeforce starts to ramp up for their final event they really are delivering on their super cards that they promised. What other matches that will be added are not known at this time, but you at least know that they will not skimp on the under card with additions like this.
