Miesha Tate defeats Marloes Coenen via arm triangle in the fourth round to become the new Strikeforce Women’s bantamweight champion in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, Saturday, July 30.

Tate struggled early with holding the former champion down and being slightly out-pointed in the stand-up. Tate was able to keep it close however throughout the rounds and caught the submission specialist Coenen with a head and arm triangle late in the fourth.

This marks Tate’s sixth win in a row, and 11 wins on her record. Tate also won a silver medal for women’s grappling at the World Team Trials Championship in 2008.

The Official victory time for Tate came at 3:03 of round number four.

She currently trains with Team Alpha Male, with her current boyfriend and fellow Strikeforce fighter, Bryan Caraway.
