29-year-old Muhammad “King Mo” Lawal’s manager Ryan Parsons has just reported that Lawal will have to be out at least nine months. Reason being that Lawal will undergo knee surgery to replace his anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments.
The injury came post Strikeforce Houston, where Lawal suffered a loss against Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante. Feijao was able to TKO Lawal in the third-round to take Lawal’s light heavyweight belt. Lawal’s surgery is planned to go on next Tuesday in Los Angeles, CA said Parson.
This will be the second surgery for the light heavyweight, as Mo underwent ACL surgery in 2009 after tearing a ligament against Ryo Kawamura at Sengoku: Seventh Battle.
