Strikeforce has been scrambling trying to find a suitable opponent for Bobby Lashley’s debut Strikeforce bout set for the Miami event. They did find an opponent however, suitable is not the word I would use to describe him when putting him in a cage with Lashley. None the less Jimmy Ambriz (14-12-1) is the proposed opponent at this time.

Ambriz has never fought in the Strikeforce cage but has been active competing in MMA since 2001. A veteran of such organizations as the WEC, DREAM, K-1, Pancrase, King of the Cage and Rage in the Cage. I am even less excited about a bout with Ambriz as I was for a bout with Yohan, I predict that if this fight goes down – it ends very quickly with Lashleys’ hand raised at the end, and fans still not impressed.

This is not the opponent to validate Bobby Lashleys existence in the Strikeforce promotion, he has already had his stepping stone bouts, and his slightly more challenging bouts after that. It is due time that he face a more credible fighter – I don’t feel in any way that Ambriz is the one to test him.

No official word yet from Strikeforce or the Florida State Boxing Commission on whether or not this fight is approved.
