L.A. Times writer, Loretta Hunt released a recent editorial piece revealing more details of the sudden buyout of Strikeforce promotions by UFC’s parent company Zuffa LLC. According to Loretta the buyout of the UFC’s top contender was not cheap as the agreement is said to be $40 million plus outstanding debt repayments. The courting by Zuffa is said to have started in Dec. 2010.
News of the buyout has caused mixed feelings among the fighters. Strikeforce Fighters Dan Henderson, Todd Duffee and Josh Barnett were surprisingly happy for the buy out despite their bitter pasts with the UFC. Others such as Paul Daley and Emelianenko camp were not too happy to hear of their new owners.
