According to fellow UFC heavyweight Antônio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira, Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva (16-3) will be making his UFC debut against the former UFC heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez (9-1) in April. The UFC has yet to verify the rumor at this time. The promotion did recently verify that there will be an event in Stockholm, Sweden on April 14th for UFC on Fuel TV 2, however Nogueira does not verify that this is the explicit event to hold the bout.

Silva’s manager Alex Davis has confirmed that Silva will look to make his debut in April, but would not verify the challenger.

Should the bout take place, it would be Cain Velasquez’s first fight since the quick KO loss to now champion Junior dos Santos at UFC on Fox on Nov. 12th.

For Silva the bout would come after a seven month layoff, following a KO loss at the hands of Daniel Cormier in the Strikeforce heavyweight tourney semi-finals on Sept. 10th. Silva known for his large exterior and dominating victory over former pound-for-pound best Fedor Emelianenko. Silva will make an interesting addition to the growing UFC heavyweight division as more Strikeforce heavy’s make the transition.
