Strikeforce heavyweight prospect Bobby Lashley (5-0 MMA, 1-0 SF) now has an opponent for his next bout at Strikeforce: Los Angeles. He will fight another undefeated 5-0 heavyweight by the name of Ron Sparks.
The event will take place on June 16 at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles. The event is scheduled to coincide with the popular Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), which is a popular trade show for announcing the latest computer and gaming news. EA has said that they will be showcasing the new MMA game featuring Strikeforce fighters during E3.
Lashley, a NAIA national wrestling champion has been highly criticized for taking “gimmie fights” especially after being pitted against an out of shape Wes Sims. The situation was neither of the fighters fault as Sims was filling in with only eight days preparation after Yohan Banks and Jimmy Ambriz were refused by the Florida Athletic Commission. Lashley on many occasions has called for harder opponents and may just have gotten his wish this time.
Sparks measuring in at 6-foot-5 and 285 pounds, is coming off a win against Johnathon Ivey at “Revolution Fight League: Maximum Impact” by decision. That was Sparks first decision though as he ran right through his first four competitors in a first round KO, or TKO.
