Holly Holm - The Greatest That Never Was?
As careers go, it’s hard to picture what Holly Holm has forged as anything but a masterpiece expertly melded with dismal failure.
After all, she was brought into the UFC as a potential opponent for then-champ Ronda Rousey, and after two lackluster performances was finally put in the cage with the Queen of Modern Female Mixed Martial Arts. We all know what happened next – with superb striking and anti-grappling skills, Holm essentially ended all notions of Rousey’s invincibility and greatness.
But then Holm proceeded to lose just about every fight given to her. Sure, most of them were close decisions, and she wrecked Bethe Correia when it counted. However, if ever there was someone we expected more from, it was Holm…
…And she just didn’t deliver.
Holm will face Invicta FC slugger Megan Anderson on the main card of UFC 225 this weekend, welcoming Anderson into the UFC’s featherweight division. In honor of that scrap, here’s a look at some of the ups and downs of Holm’s UFC career.
