Werdum has now beaten both Emelianenko brothers. The fighter shocked the World early at 1:09 of the first round locking up a triangle and armbar quickly. Emelianenko was forced to tap as his oxygen was cut off from a tight triangle and was simultaneous having his arm torqued by a viscous armbar finishing the fight.

Notably, Werdum did not land one punch in the fight quickly slapping on the triangle as Emelianenko came in.

Prior to the fight Strikeforce President Scott Coker announced that the winner of Werdum – Emelianenko would fight champion Alistair Overeem.

Werdum now 15-4-1 explained that he would like to rematch Fedor anytime, in the US or Russia. “I won this fight today but Fedor is still the best fighter in the world” he said. He then went on to thank his friends and family saying that they were the reason he won the fight. Werdum finished the post fight interview asking Overeem to give him his belt.

During Fedor’s gracious speech following his lost,  he explained that he will go and review what went wrong and fix the error.
