With the UFC now the undeniable mega-power in the world of MMA, absorbing smaller organizations and fighters left, right and center, what better time to take a look back at some of the great fighters over the years that rejected the UFC’s bright lights, or that have yet to make the leap. [Note: This is a list of the best non-UFC fighters past, present & potentially future, that have NEVER fought in the UFC before]

Prepare to disagree, here’s my Top 10!

10. Gegard Mousasi (32-3)

A veteran of the sport at the young age of 27, and approaching his prime years, the Strikeforce light heavyweight contender makes this list thanks to his amazing 15-fight win streak between 2006 and 2009. After dominating almost every middleweight fighter not under the Zuffa banner, Mousasi moved up to light heavyweight, where he lost to “King Mo” for the Strikeforce light heavyweight title, after beating Babalu, Sokodjou and Gary Goodridge. Mousasi has recently said he is UFC-bound however, calling for a fight with “Shogun” Rua. Great off his back with a vicious stand-up game, Mousasi is one of the most exciting fighters in the sport today.
