World Series of Fighting 28 took place Saturday night from the Next Level Sports Complex in Garden Grove, California.

In what has become the norm for WSOF bantamweight champion Marlon Moraes, the 27-year-old had little trouble turning back challenger Joseph Barajas.

Winning for the 11th straight time, Moraes (16-4) ended the night of Barajas in just 1:13 of the first round after peppering him with leg kicks. Barajas fell to 12-2 with the defeat.

Chris Gutierrez turned back Timur Valiev to win the co-main event via split decision. Two judges gave the contest to Gutierrez by matching 29-28 scores, but the third had Valiev, 30-27.

Jamie Yager, who once competed on The Ultimate Fighter, picked up his first win in over four years, submitting Daniel McWilliams in 38 seconds. Yager had not fought since a TKO loss at Bellator 85 three years ago to Joe Williams.

It was a clean sweep of the scorecards for Ozzie Alvarez, as he picked up his seventh career win with a decision vs. Andrew Ramm. The fight was the first on the televised main card.

A few highlights of the early prelims included the performance of Jalin Turner, as he knocked Eric Steans out in just 38 seconds. Steve Ramirez also picked up a first round finish, knocking Kyle Estrada out in 1:01.

Other prelim winners were Fard Muhammad, Heinrich Wassmer and Isaias Alvarado.
