Today we’re taking a look at the top ten craziest submissions ever used in mixed martial arts. We’re not listing submissions that end brutally, like say, Frank Mir breaking Big Nog’s arm. Will save that for another day. What we are looking at is the inventive, the never before seen, and basically the pulled out of nowhere. Not all are fancy, but you will be impressed.
#10 Front Headlock
This submission is widely known in wrestling, but it was most recently famed in the Octagon by Matt Hughes in his finish over Ricardo Almedia at UFC 117. Hughes had hurt Almedia with a punch, and instead of dropping down for a standard guillotine, or anaconda, he put Arona out with a ridiculously tight wrestling headlock.
