It must have been a few months back when I heard the the former TV star and green Power Ranger, Jason Frank was training for MMA. I was like whaaa? yeah right… but then I saw a recent picture of the dude, and the guy definitely doesn’t look like the green ranger anymore. Frank is all tatted down now and bulked up quite a bit.

Jason Frank, has a vast knowledge of many different styles of martial arts. Frank collected the most practical styles, and modified them with his own philosophies and created his own blend of American Karate, “Toso Kune Do”. On June 28, 2003 Frank was inducted into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame.

He was scheduled for an MMA fight against Ron ‘The Badger’ McMasters on June 23, 2007, at the Williamson County Pavilion in Marion, IL. However, Frank opted out of the fight since he did not appreciate the event getting changed from an MMA fight to an exhibition boxing match, because his opponent was trained only in boxing, and because he felt that an exhibition match where both fighters are declared winners was “meaningless”.

On August 21, 2009, Frank announced his signing with SuckerPunch Entertainment, a sports marketing and management company specializing in MMA. He is currently training with UFC lightweight Melvin Guillard – gearing up for his fight with, Johnathan “The Mack Truck” Mack, taking place January 30th at the Houston Arena Theater for Legacy Fights: “Lonestar Beatdown”.

I for one hope Frank does well – and with the credentials he has as a fighter hope to see him make his way to the bigger promotions like WEC, or Strikeforce and if he is really good maybe a future UFC slot might open up for him.
