There’s been trouble brewing for some time between the brothers Diaz and Nurmagomedov, and last night it all came to a head, as Jim Genia reported earlier today.
UFC lightweight contenders Nate Diaz and Khabib Nurmagomedov have had a war of words going back years — including the claim that Diaz turned down a fight between the two.

Diaz denies this, in typical fashion, calling White and Nurmagomedov “full of bulls–t.”
Last night at MMA World Series of Fighting 22 in Las Vegas, that conflict finally came to blows — but it was outside of the cage.
MMA World Series of Fighting vice president Ali Abdel-Aziz described the incident to MMA Fighting.com:
“Nate went to Khabib and they just got talking,” Abdel-Aziz said. “They exchanged words and Nate threw a punch. I saw Nate throw a punch.”
Neither of the two were at WSOF 22 to fight. Khabib was at the event to corner two fighters: his brother Abubakar, who won a unanimous decision victory over Jorge Moreno at the event; and Islam Mamedov, who knocked out Jimmy Spicuzza. Nate and Nick Diaz accompanied fellow Cesar Gracie black belt Jake Shields, who lost via submission to Rousimar Palhares in the main event.
Nick later became involved in the affray, and appears in video throwing a bottle at the Nurmagomedov entourage.
Both Diaz brothers are now banned from WSOF events, according to Abdel-Aziz. Nate Diaz was taken away in handcuffs — but not arrested — by Las Vegas police.
Video is continuing to surface. Here’s what we have uncovered:
