Cage Warriors 55 took place last night in Dublin, Ireland, with the home crowd treated to one of the best nights in the promotion’s history.

In the main event, which was no longer a five-round title fight because of Che Mills (15-6) missing weight, Boston-born Cathal Pendred (13-2-1) won decisively with a third round stoppage as Mills’s corner threw in the towel as Pendred punished the former UFC man with some relentless ground and pound. After the victory, the CWFC welterweight champion made an open plea to Dana White for a shot in the Ultimate Fighting Championship:

“It feels unbelievable. That’s what I came out here to do,” Boston-born Pendred said after the win. “Let’s go Dana! Sign me up baby!”

In the co-main event, Team Ryano’s Neil Seery (13-9) walked away the victor to become the first ever Cage Warriors flyweight champion, with a third round submission against Mikael Silander (8-2). The young Finn was the aggressor early on, with Seery failing to get much of a foot-hold in the first round, but after a back-and-forth and exciting fight, it was the Dubliner who came out on top, latching onto the armbar to force the submission.

Before that, Chris Fields (10-5-1) and Norman Paraisy (11-3-2, 1 NC) fought to a controversial majority draw decision. Paraisy was the more effective in the first round, though he was deducted a point for grabbing the fence, which ultimately cost him the decision in the end. Controversially, many scored the bout for Fields, and with the point deduction a win seemed certain, though the judges couldn’t agree.

An impressive Paul Redmond (8-3) defeated Marc Allen (7-3) in the second round by way of a rare but extremely painful toehold submisssion, forcing the tap from Allen. Redmond struggled somewhat in the first but it came together for the Irishman from Team Ryano MMA, as he extended his Cage Warriors winning streak to five fights.

The opening fight of the main card saw Frenchman Jean N’Doye (7-1) submit his opponent Steve McCombe (17-20) in the second round by way of an arm triangle choke. The win is N’Doye’s second in succession in the Cage Warriors promotion.
