In the eighth bout of World Series of Fighting 5 tonight in New Jersey, David Branch was able to shut down Danillo Villefort’s game to earn a unanimous decision victory.

It was a typical Branch victory. He was able to take Villefort down in every round to score shots to the head and body; never really hurting his opponent, but never sustaining any damage. Villefort (pictured above) stayed active in the guard, going for several leglocks and trying for reversals, but to no avail.

Branch would claim that he struggled with the bout’s weight cut, which contributed to the slow nature of the bout.

David Branch rises to 13-3 with the victory, and will next fight for the WSOF middleweight title, with an opponent to be named later. Danillo Villefort falls to 13-5. The bout was the second of two scheduled middleweight eliminator bouts. The first would be cancelled at the last minute by the New Jersey State Athletic Commission.

At World Series of Fighting 5, David Branch defeats Danillo Villefort by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
