After a crushing knockout loss to Brian Ortega last month, former champ Frankie Edgar got back into the cage this weekend and earned himself a win over a quality opponent in Cub Swanson.

Prior to falling to Ortega, Edgar had done all he’d needed to do to earn a title shot against champ Max Holloway. But that opportunity is gone now – or at least, on ice – with Ortega slated to take on Holloway in Edgar’s place.

So what now for Edgar? Although he’d already defeated Swanson once before, doing so again certainly put a little shine back on Edgar’s name.

The dark spots on Edgar’s record come from Jose Aldo, Benson Henderson and Ortega; a rematch is only likely with Ortega.

If only there were someone out there with a compelling background and fighting style who’d be willing to face the ex-lightweight champ…

Oh, hi there, Korean Zombie.
