Glover Teixeira was a top contender at light-heavyweight for a long time, but age and mileage done what they do to everyone, and now it’s all about staving off the inevitable. Misha Cirkunov has been on a tear ever since coming to the UFC back in 2015, and though his last fight ending in a loss to Volkan Oezdemir, he’s got youth and momentum on his side.
Cirkuno wastes no time banging away on the Brazilian veteran, and we’re suddenly scared for Teixeira’s life, as he’s backed up against the cage and eating leather. The Russian is pouring it on, but by the grace of God Teixeira survives long enough to clinch and throw his foe down. From there, it’s back-mount and then rear naked choke attempt, and when Cirkunov fights it, Teixeira switches to flattening him out and pounding away with his fists. Cirkunov has no answer for that, and the ref jumps in soon after the onslaught begins.
