Mixed martial arts was never just a sport for Western cultures – how could it, since many of the fighting styles that went into it originated from foreign lands? But it seems lately that cagefighting has opened itself up to heroes we all can love who maybe don’t speak our language.
Sure, Conor McGregor is one example. However, I’m actually talking about South Korean slugger Doo Ho Choi.
Thanks to a gutsy performance at UFC 206 against Cub Swanson, Choi gets to headline another UFC – this one UFC Fight Night 124 on January 14. And while his opponent is another salty veteran in Jeremy Stephens, it’s a safe bet that Stephens is going to have all he can handle when the South Korean starts swinging.
Remember: Choi hadn’t lost since 2010 until that Swanson fight. The kid has got hella talent and ability.
In case you need a reminder, here’s the Swanson fight.
