That’s the best way to describe the UFC’s middleweight division right now.
You can thank Georges St-Pierre dethroning Michael Bisping, and then promptly giving up the belt, for that. And you can put some of the blame on then-interim champ Robert Whittaker, who was made full-blown champ but then got stuck on the sidelines with injuries.
Now former champ Luke Rockhold and contender Yoel Romero are going to scrap for the interim belt in the main event of UFC 221 this coming weekend. But regardless of who wins and loses, we’re barely any closer to having a clear-cut “best middleweight in the world” – which is sort of the whole purpose of the belt, no?
