The sudden and violent knockout, seemingly out of nowhere.

That’s the best thing about Yoel Romero, who earned a silver medal representing Cuba in the Olympics as a wrestler, but now puts gigantic exclamation points on fights in the cage.

It happened against former champ Chris Weidman, when Weidman ducked his head and shot for a takedown. BAM! went the knee to the dome.

It happened against Lyoto Machida, against Tim Kennedy, against Derek Brunson, against Clifford Starks. Romero has made a career in the Octagon being explosive as all hell, even after a few rounds of ugliness. And for that, we eagerly await what he’ll do (or not) against Luke Rockhold in the main event of UFC 221 on Saturday night.

Will it be… something like this?
