Luke Rockhold made quick work of Tim Boetsch tonight at UFC 172 in Baltimore, snaring “The Barbarian” in a reverse triangle before scoring a submission with a Kimura arm-lock.
Boetsch, of Maine but fighting out of AMC Pankration in Kirkland, Washington, entered the cage the night’s biggest underdog at about seven-to-one odds. Rockhold, of Santa Cruz, California, scrambled beautifully as Boetsch looked for a single-leg takedown, catching the reverse triangle position. The longtime middleweight contender, who fights out of American Kickboxing Academy in the Bay Area, eventually found the Kimura lock as Boetsch tried to defend.
The victory improves Rockhold’s record to 12-2. He was the last Strikeforce Middleweight Champion. Boetsch falls to 17-7.
At UFC 172, Luke Rockhold defeated Tim Boetsch by submission (Kimura) at 2:08 of round one.
