This past weekend, we saw child star Sage Northcutt look better than he’s ever looked in the cage, taking out Zak Ottow after dealing with some serious adversity.

Granted, Northcutt’s stardom has always far exceeded his skill level, so saying he looked better than ever doesn’t mean he could even remotely be competitive with the UFC elite, but still. Good for you, Sage.

But alas, Northcutt has fought out the last fight on his UFC contract, and is currently without gainful employment. Zoinks!

(Don’t worry. The UFC will surely give him a new contract.)

Here’s ESPN:

One of the UFC’s most popular fighters is on the verge of becoming a free agent.

Sage Northcutt fought out his contract last week and is currently without a new deal, Northcutt’s coach Urijah Faber confirmed with ESPN.

“[Last week’s Zak Ottow fight] was his last fight,” Faber said, “and I really hope they re-sign him. He is the perfect ambassador for the sport.”

UFC contracts have an exclusive negotiation period once they expire, which is typically 90 days, so Northcutt won’t be able to sign with any promotion just yet.
