Well, this was inevitable.

Ever since Ronda Rousey was dethroned as champ, a big question mark has been hanging over the head of Cris Cyborg – the supposedly only big challenge left for Rousey and a surefire big money female bout. But Cyborg struggles to cut down to the 145-pound limit, so making 135 (Rousey’s weight class) was a tough prospect. Dollar signs make people want to do tough things, though…

Thanks to Holly Holm, however, that big money fight is now on ice (for a long while at least), so for Cyborg that means saying “screw it” to cutting down anytime soon.

Said Invicta FC boss Shannon Knapp on AXS-TV last night:

“Cyborg’s next fight will be at 145 pounds. This will be the first time that she has competed without hydrating herself with an I.V. So she’s made the decision to go ahead and defend her belt.”

As ever, the old adage “You snooze, you lose” applies.
