Two of the UFC Bantamweight division’s biggest names will return to the Octagon shortly.

First, former champion Renan Barao will make his first UFC appearance since losing his title back in May — as the UFC Canada Twitter account reported:

Barao will face Canadian Mitch Gangon in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 58 in December.

Gagnon is 12-2 in his six-year MMA career and currently enjoying a four fight winning streak. The Ontario native will likely enter the cage a substantial underdog against the 32-2-1 Barao, who was until recently hailed as one of the sport’s pound-for-pound elite.

Barao, of Natal, Brazil, was scheduled to return to action in August, but struggled to make the bantamweight limit and was scratched from the lineup at the last minute.

The event will be headlined by Lyoto Machida’s middleweight bout against CB Dollaway.

The other returning bantamweight star, the popular “California Kid” Urijah Faber, will see his return on December 8 at UFC 181 in Las Vegas, against Francisco “Cisco” Rivera in Las Vegas.

Faber, the former WEC Featherweight Champion, is 31-7 overall and has won five of his last six — his only loss, an unsuccessful bid at the UFC bantamweight title against Barao. Rivera, also of California, is 10-3-1 overall, and has won five of his past seven bouts.

UFC 181 will be headlined by the rematch between Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler for the UFC welterweight championship.
