TUF winner and former middleweight champ Michael Bisping made it official yesterday, retiring after a long, successful career in the sport.
We all knew the end was coming, although we expected at least a “retirement fight” out of it. Oh well. Bisping accomplished so much in the cage that he’s more than earned the right to go out on his terms.
You might even say “The Count” – who sometimes let his mouth get the better of him – ended up pretty beloved by his peers. That too is a measure of success.
Here’s some of the love showered upon Bisping when his retirement was announced.
My guy @bisping is getting out of the game. Congrats on a great career my man. You earned it! You made people care one way or the other and you won and won a lot. That’s what matters man. Congrats my man! DC pic.twitter.com/sD1rwNtz20

Congrats to my friend @mikebisping on his retirement from MMA! Few men have contributed as much to the @ufc as a fighter, personality, and analyst. So happy you were able to realize a UFC title before stepping away. Fighting’s loss is broadcasting’s gain. There is only one Michael Bisping. On to the Hall…

And of course, Bisping was appreciative.
Utterly blown away by all the beautiful messages regarding my retirement. I have so many people I need to thanks but right now, thank you for the kind words. I should retire more often ???
