Tonight at World Series of Fighting 6, Jon Fitch rebounded from his loss to Josh Burkman at the promotion’s June WSOF 4 show with a split decision victory over Marcelo Alfaya.

Fitch recovered from a difficult first round in the welterweight encounter, which saw the unheralded Brazilian Alfaya score an early takedown to spend much of the stanza controlling Fitch in back mount.

Fitch turned the tide in the second round, earning an early takedown and also dominating the round’s standup sequences. Fitch’s jab-uppercut combination landed particularly heavily.

The third round offered more of the same, with Fitch landing a series of hand combinations as Alfaya seemed to tire. Alfaya, who trains with American Top Team, enjoyed the support of many in the Florida crowd, but would mostly be seen struggling to take Fitch down as time ran out.

Fitch, of Indiana but fighting out of Team AKA in California, advances his record to 28-4. Alfaya drops to 15-7.

At WSOF 6, Jon Fitch defeated Marcelo Alfaya by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28).
