Polish striker Joanna Jedrzejczyk was on top of the world, or at least the top of the UFC’s strawweight division, for a long time. But back-to-back losses to Rose Namajunas have left us where Jedrzejczyk’s new place in the food chain lies. Well, Saturday’s UFC on FOX 30 will give us an answer to that, with the former champ taking on TUF vet Tecia Torres.

Torres has done well for herself in the Octagon, losing to Namajunas and Jessica Andrade but beating everyone else, including the highly-touted Michelle Waterson. She’s never quite managed to do anything that earned her a title shot, but with Jedrzejczyk, there’s a brief window of glory opening up. Because what happens when you beat the ex-champ in clear and convincing fashion? Usually, it means you get a shot at the current champ.

That window doesn’t really exist for Jedrzejczyk. Even if she does some sort of Matrix-Neo stuff and kicks Torres through the fence and into the crowd, it’s unlikely that that would warrant a third fight with Namajunas. At best, it just cements her spot as second best in a division where there could literally be about three second-best fighters.

Anyway, both fighters are pretty big deals at this stage, so here’s a Road to the Octagon vid in their honor.
