There’s been talk about Megan Anderson – a pretty badass featherweight in Invicta FC – being the one to actually dethrone UFC featherweight queen Cris Cyborg. She is, after all, a big and dangerous striker. But first, she has to get past one of the greatest under-performers the UFC has ever known in Holly Holm.

Yes, the same Holly Holm who destroyed the legend of Ronda Rousey, who lost the belt to Miesha Tate, and who couldn’t defeat Cyborg herself.

The fight opens with Anderson clearly ultra-dangerous and very able to use her size advantage to inflict damage. Usually the taller, rangier competitor in her fights, Holm is forced to tie up and press Anderson against the cage, and – believe it or not – seek takedowns. And she gets them! In the first, she gets Anderson down late, and we suddenly see that the Aussie doesn’t crap about groundfighting.

Holm does the same in Round 2, taking Anderson down even earlier and working her over, and though Anderson manages to not fall into any kimuras or head/arm chokes, she gets handled.

Ditto for the third round. Though Holm doesn’t get the finish, she’s dominant, and the best she’s looked in forever.

Results: Holly Holm def. Megan Anderson via Unanimous Decision
