The reign of king Demetrious Johnson, Lord of All the Flyweights, is over.

In the co-main event of UFC 227, Johnson rematched with Olympic wrestler Henry Cejudo, and quite unlike their first meeting – which has Johnson finishing him early – this one went the distance. And quite unlike every decision Johnson has earned since 2012, this one went to the other guy.

Whatever adjustments that Cejudo needed to make to make his wrestling effective, well, he made them. While Johnson was a nonstop leg-kicking machine, Cejudo was a constant threat with those takedowns, and eventually he was able to clinch and twist “Mighty Mouse” to the canvas.

Make no mistake: this bout was a close one. But when time ran out, and the judges awarded Cejudo the split decision, you have to think the UFC brass breathed a sigh of relief, because now maybe they have a flyweight champ they can promote.
