Welcome to CagedInsider’s coverage of UFC on FOX 29, an event headlined by sluggers Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje, and thankfully lacking in hand trucks thrown through van windows.

Capping off the Fight Pass prelims is a match-up between jiu-jitsu stud Gilbert Burns and newcomer Daniel Moret. Burns has only lost twice in seven Octagon appearances, and with his last win via knockout, there could be some upside finally emerging with this welterweight.

The bout begins with both men seemingly cool with keeping it on the feet, although Burns is throwing heat with confidence and Moret is left looking like a deer caught in the headlights. Based on striking success alone Gilbert edges ahead, and he definitely takes the lead on the scorecards with a takedown and some ground control in the latter half of Round 1.

Then comes Round 2, with Burns wasting no time slinging bolos and clipping his opponent with a killer right. The jiu-jitsu black belt follows it up with a storm of leather, and in seconds Moret is out cold and slumped over his knees.

Results: Gilbert Burns def. Daniel Moret via KO (Punches) at :59, R2
