Hometown hero Darren Till was supposed to face top ranked Stephen Thompson in the main event of UFC Fight Night 130 tomorrow in a welterweight clash that could’ve had serious implications for the welterweight division.
Instead, the Liverpool, England-native gets to fight before his home crowd as a middleweight who failed to make the welterweight cutoff because he’s a chubby layabout.
Seriously, why is the UFC pushing this guy?
Till stepped onto the scale for today’s weigh-ins at 174.5 pounds. This wouldn’t normally be so egregious… except Till has publicly bragged how big he is for the division, and how much that size helps him.
The fight will, however, go on, with Thompson’s team forcing some steep stipulations on the Brit.
Fight is on. Till can’t weigh over 188 at 1 pm tomorrow, forfeits 30 percent of purse, all to Wonderboy.

Size advantage or no, Till is still facing someone with much more experience and striking savvy. So maybe those extra helpings of fish and chips won’t help him…
