It takes a gigantic set of heuvos to agree to face someone like Khabib Nurmagomedov on just six days notice, but I guess that’s what featherweight champ Max Holloway has.
This is in addition to his high-level striking and jiu-jitsu skills, toughness, and willingness to reach for greatness when it floats nearby.
Yes, the Hawaiian is likely getting paid oodles of money to replace the injured Tony Ferguson and save UFC 223, but whether or not he’s in perfect shape and honed to a razor’s keen edge, there’s still a killer Dagestani and possible beating waiting for him in the cage. Holloway truly believes he can win, and you know what? He probably can. It’s possible that when Nurmagomedov tries to give him a taste of that wilting forward pressure, Holloway cracks him in the mouth and pounds the top-ranked lightweight into the canvas until he’s jelly.
Anyway, in the Embedded episode below, Holloway is on the treadmill – he has hella weight to cut by Friday. But guess who joins him? Nurmagomedov and his team. And Holloway is totally cool with it, and even shakes Nurmagomedov’s hand and says that it’s honor to fight him.
(Nurmagomedov thanks him for taking the fight, which is also cool.)
Saturday is going to be fun, folks.
