Dustin Ortiz has lost to the elite of the flyweight division, but has sort of become the guy who beats up everyone else. He’s also riding a two-fight win streak, and in a weight class with zero movement at the top (thanks to Mighty Mouse), it’s not like you need more than tiny win streak to earn a title shot, right?

Matheus Nicolau is a jiu-jitsu black belt and TUF Brasil runner-up, and he’s won all three of his UFC appearances. Hey, maybe he’s close to earning a title shot, too…?

They come out throwing jabs and kicks at range, with Nicolau touching Ortiz pretty hard and Ortiz trying to penetrate his defenses. But after throwing some low-kicks,  Ortiz kicks high – and despite Nicolau blocking it with one arm, the kick gets through and beans him right in the head. Nicolau goes down stunned, takes punishment, and the ref jumps in.
