Not that you didn’t already know this, but former middleweight- and welterweight contender Demian Maia is all class.
Yes, the Brazilian master of jiu-jitsu took a beating at the hands of TUF winner Kamaru Usman in the main event of UFC Fight Night 129 this past weekend. And yes, Usman’s wrestling stymied Maia to the put where the Brazilian had to fall to guard and beckon (fruitlessly) for Usman to come down and join him.
But when the dust settled, and Usman’s hand was raised in victory, Maia had nothing love and respect for his opponent.
We don’t deserve this level of niceness in the sport.
