Welcome to CagedInsider’s coverage of UFC 226, a big summer pay-per-view featuring a superfight between the heavyweight champ and the light-heavyweight champ. The whole card is actually pretty stacked, and chock full of your favorites, like… unorthodox striking guy! And that dude who’s really good at social media! And that kid who is probably at least a little crazy!

First up: Dan Hooker versus Gilbert Burns.

Hooker has left the warm and wet shores of New Zealand for Las Vegas tonight, with the dream of turning that three-fight finishing streak into some momentum that can’t be ignored. Burns is a Brazilian living in Florida, and he probably just wants to get out of Florida. Both men can deliver strikes and find submissions when it counts.

Round 1 opens with fists flying, and Burns tags his foe with a knuckle sandwich. Hooker deals with it, and soon it’s payback time, courtesy of a sneaky right hook that catches Burns in the face and puts him on his butt. Burns gets up, but Hooker has all the info he needs to close the deal, and throwing a left hook-right hook combo that puts Burns down and out.

Results: Dan Hooker def. Gilbert Burns via KO (Punch) at 2:28, R1
