They last time they were together, Khabib Nurmagomedov was sitting on a bus and Conor McGregor was smashing windows to get inside. This time, there was no smashing. This time, there was just whiskey and unkind words.

The UFC lightweight champ and the former lightweight champ met today at Radio City Music Hall in New York City to hype their upcoming clash, which will take place on October 6 at UFC 229. Since this is the biggest fight the UFC has in the works right now, of course the Dagestani and Irishman were put on a stage to talk trash to each other.
For his part, Nurmagomedov was pretty subdued… which is about what you’d expect. Ol’ Khabib isn’t much of a trashtalker, and there’s no way he’d ever out-talk McGregor.
McGregor was his usual self. He even brought a bottle of his new line of whiskey, and he coaxed boss Dana White to have a glass with him.

Notable Conor McGregor-isms from the press-only affair include:
- McGregor complaining that there were no fans there, only media. (Obviously, this was done for security reasons, because the last thing the UFC needs is McGregor fans and Khabib fans going berserk and killing each other… which they would do.)
- Tons of trashtalk about Nurmagomedov’s ties to Russian warlords and criminals, because yes, Khabib does have some connections to them.
- Conor promising to break Nurmagomedov’s “rat jaw”.
Also worth noting is that when McGregor and Nurmagomedov squared off for the usual staredown, there were a handful of NYPD officers standing close by. I guess that whole bus incident left an impression, eh?
Here’s the video of the press conference.
