If you thought things might cool down between UFC boss man Dana White and Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney, now that Eddie Alvarez has resigned with the latter’s promotion, you would be wrong. Recently White announced  that he was interested in talking to another of Bellator’s top fighters and current free agents, Ben Askren. Not long after, Rebney relayed that Bellator likely wouldn’t offer the welterweight champ a contract, and would clear the path for Askren’s exit. Although the renowned wrestler might not be one of Bellator’s top draws, the comments raised more than a few eyebrows throughout the MMA world.

Speaking after last night’s UFC Fight Night 27 card, here’s some of what White had to say about Rebney and the Askren situation, and guess what? It wasn’t too positive (comments via MMA Junkie.com):

“Bjorn Rebney’s a scumbag,” White said.  “The guy says, ‘Yeah, we’re going to let him go. Let’s just part ways.’ You ain’t f—ing parting ways with him. He’s got a matching right and all that bulls—. This guy is a f—ing typical boxing piece of s—. Everybody knows the guy is a scumbag.

“We’ll see what happens with Ben. First they say they’re going to let him go. They’re not going to let him go. They’ll probably end up suing him too and make him sit out and lose a bunch of money and f— him in a deal. Bad guys. They’re bad guys.”

Now, it should be noted that White’s comments are the latest in a back-and-forth with Rebney, who earlier in the month criticized the UFC for granting Chael Sonnen a title shot at light-heavyweight. It’s been a sharp departure from the past, as for the most part, both Rebney and White steered clear of criticizing the other promotion until recently.

Askren has gone 12-0 to date and has cruised to victories in most of his Bellator bouts. Most recently he mauled Andrey Koreshkov at Bellator 97 for three rounds before stopping him in the fourth.
