Bad news for Bellator promotions (and the fans) as their undefeated heavyweight champion Cole Konrad (9-0 MMA, 7-0 BFC) suddenly retires to work in the private sector. The 28-year-old former two-time NCAA wrestler has had quite an impressive career in his two year stint in mixed martial arts, which looks to now be behind him.
According to Twincities.com, the champ has left the organization after taking a job as a financial trader in Minnesota for a firm specializing in feed, pet food, and food processing called North Central Trading. Konrad is said to be specializing in milk trading full-time for the firm now.
Bellator has not released any statement denying or admitting to the claims, leaving the upcoming heavyweight tournament in question. As of now we may have seen the last of Konrad when he took out number one contender Eric Prindle out via kimura in the first minute of the bout back in May, 2012.
