While it remains to be seen whether Bellator’s upcoming November 2nd PPV draws a lot buys, or fans to the Long Beach Convention Center, there are several intriguing fights booked for the event. Case in point, is the rematch between Emanuel Newton and “King Mo” Lawal, which should be interesting not only because it’s for the interim light-heavyweight belt, but because of went down in round one.

As you likely recall, Newton sent a collective gasp throughout the MMA world at Bellator 90 in February, by ending “King Mo’s” night with a spinning back-fist. Since then, the talented Lawal hasn’t hid the fact he thinks the fight ending punch was a fluke, and that he intends to violently derail “The Hardcore Kid’s” hype train. Here’s what the former Strikeforce champ had to say about the upcoming bout while appearing on the latest edition of “The MMA Hour.”

“F– him,” said Lawal. “F— him and f— everybody else that rides with him. I’m going to f— him up.”

“That spinning backfist was a joke, you know what I’m saying?” Lawal said. “It’s not happening. He’s running his mouth like I was being disrespectful toward him, which I never have been. He trains with Antonio McKee. Antonio’s my boy. But the fact he went out there and said I was disrespectful toward him, I never said a bad thing about that dude during the fight. He’s going to hear a lot during the fight. You’re going to hear me talk shit to him, put it like that. Hell yeah, man. F— him. Straight up.”

“I’m always me. I don’t turn on and turn off, I’m always me. Emanuel Newton trying to play up like Mo got cocky and he get what he deserved, trying to play up to these motherf—-.”

So, if you weren’t interested before in this fight, are you now? Trash talk aside, it’s a huge fight for Lawal, as another loss to Newton would be a serious setback for one of Bellator’s top stars. It should also be noted that Newton’s lost just once in his last ten fights, and that was by split decision to current champ Attila Vegh.
