A bantamweight feature attraction has been added to Bellator 131 in San Diego, California.

The Nov. 15 event, which features Stephan Bonnar against Tito Ortiz as the feature bout, will kick off with Nam Phan, who is making his Bellator MMA debut, against Mike Richman, who is 1-0 in the promotion.

Phan, best known for his days on The Ultimate Fighter Season 12, scored wins over Leonard Garcia and Cole Miller during an almost four year stretch in the UFC. He most recently competed in Japan, where he won two straight bouts — most recently, a first round submission victory over Yuki Baba in Pancrase.

“This is an opportunity to fight on a huge stage once again,” Phan said. “I’m so happy to be able to fight in front of all my friends, family and supporters in California.”

Richman won his Bellator debut last month, a knockout victory over Ed West at Bellator 126 in Phoenix, Arizona. He is 17-5 in an MMA career which followed three tours of Iraq with the United States Marine Corps.

“This is a fight that is going to kick off this stacked show with a bang,” Richman said. “Fans can expect two talented punchers staying in the pocket looking for the finish. I plan on seeing a bunch of Marines in attendance cheering loud, and just like we do in the Marine Corps, I’m going to locate, close width, and destroy the enemy by fire and maneuver.”

Bellator 131’s co-main event sees Will Brooks defending his lightweight championship against Michael Chandler. Its other bouts are Melvin Manhoef vs Joe Schilling at middleweight, and King Mo vs. Tom DeBlass at light heavyweight. The show will be televised on SPIKE TV.
