Bellator President Scott Coker is pumped for next weekend’s Bellator 131, which features Stephan Bonnar against Tito Ortiz in the main event.
The event is the same weekend as UFC 181, which features an interim heavyweight title fight. But Coker is confident in his product, including the undercard.
“I think we have an amazing fight card,” Coker says to MMA Junkie. “Top to bottom, we probably have the best card Bellator has ever put together. The (Melvin) Manhoef/(Joe) Schilling fight is going to be unbelievable; tons of action. The (Michael) Chandler/Will Brooks fight — you guys already saw the first one, that’s going to be a war.”
He expects “fireworks” from his main event.
“Tito Ortiz against Stephan Bonnar– that fight has already sold itself,” he smiles. “Then, King Mo (Muhammad Lawal) fighting. Top to bottom, I feel really good about the entire night.”
“From my viewpoint, here’s two legends, already Hall of Famers, that have a big fight; and I can tell you they genuinely do not like each other.”
Fans are invited to attend the Bellator 131 public workout on Wednesday November 12th, at Dave & Buster’s San Diego. Tito Ortiz, Stephan Bonnar, Michael Chandler, Will Brooks, King Mo and Melvin Manhoef are all scheduled to appear.
Friday’s “Pre Party Kick Off,” featuring Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock, Randy Couture, and others, will be held at Dave & Buster’s San Diego as well. For more information, go to Bellator’s official website.
Bellator 131 will be televised on SPIKE TV on November 15th from the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, CA.
